sms roaming
i have just read on a blog that european commision has decided to put a fix rate for mobile operators on sms roaming
so in the future when you are outside your home network and you are using a mobile operator based in european union your cost for sending out sms will be 0.11euro instead of something like 0.50-1euro how much operators are charging now.
so this is a good news isnt it but am still not sure if we will beneffit from this as well or it will be ment only for eu mobile operators.

first mvno in kosovo
d3 mobile new and first MVNO is almost starting i think its matter of days now,,, d3 mobile is part of Dukagjini cooperations and this is thier third time trying to get into mobile business but this time they are in i think...but before seeing thier numbers being sold we cant be sure as 2 times earlier they didnt because of external factors, first time dukagjini and mobitel slovenia together were in the race for second mobile operator license in kosovo TRA granted the license but xyz reasons came up from UNMIK and the whole process was stopped,
last year when second tender for 2nd mobile operator was oppened Kujtesa, Dukagjini and 2 other companies created a consorcium Kosmocell (i think) and again won and recieved the license but the foreign companies failed to find the money 77million euros (i think) and they lost again so Ipko, telecom slovenia and mobitel were granted the license and they paid,
and now 1 year later they are trying for the 3rd time to start MVNO called d3 (i think 3 comes from albanian proverb e treta e verteta)
what can be impact what they will do
ipkos entrance had a big impact on prices the prices went down by 50%
new services were added ( credit transfer, missed call sms, gprs/edge internet, 5 favorite numbers)
so end users have beneffited from (even once)
but will d3 now push ipko and vala to re check their pricing?
will ipko let d3 what ever they want?
will d3 be able to act better then ipko knowing that ipko was not able o grab a lot from the market share
will people switch to d3? and will they maintain them (clients)
so on this questions i will be able to answer in about 6 months from now, hope everything goes as per thier plans as at the end we benefit from this (WE = end users) but from my point of view as other would say adding my 2 cents into this the key of success for ipko and new d3 is locked
and they should do something to unlock that, if they plan to get into a race of having equal market shares with vala and in order to that they should ask TRA for price reconfiguration and only for calls from Vala to IPKO (inlcuding d3) having at least same pricing or as from ipko to vala and the opposite from vala to ipko is the main factor which is blocking ipko from further growth, and another important comment make your packages simple and not complicate them with a mix of this and that (when you make prepaid let it be prepaid, when you make postpaid let it be postpaid, everything we do is risky so you should take the risk as well you cant be 100% secured as we are not as well)
so a warm welcome for d3 into mobile market hope they will use the creativity and be able to implement their visions and not reach obsticals which divert them from a profit and clients.
ill continue this analyze in june sometime
regards
edon,
this will have have some impact on kosovo mobile business thats for sure but who will beneffit and who will loose is still an enigma knwing that 1. d3 is offering services using ipko infrastructure but they are not as open as they should be ..they think on their own way,
2. ipko was not able to take a big number of customers from vala many reasons
last year when second tender for 2nd mobile operator was oppened Kujtesa, Dukagjini and 2 other companies created a consorcium Kosmocell (i think) and again won and recieved the license but the foreign companies failed to find the money 77million euros (i think) and they lost again so Ipko, telecom slovenia and mobitel were granted the license and they paid,

everything running on h323 and sip at the same time,
protocol conversion both ways sip/h323 and h323/sip
as we already have up and running pc to phone (ntel) infrastructure we are looking for upgrading it specialy for firewall bypass issued (more info will be posted soon)
5
new interconnections are being negociated we are looking to have new partners
new clients joining our family everyday and beneffiting from our services
currently we are working hard that before the end of the year to issue a complete package of Balkan Mobiles (kosovo, albania, macedonia, serbia, montenegro) all of them hgh quality routes with very reasonable price...so this new package will be designed for wholesale carriers who are looking for a solution not for a cheap price with fas routing.

UK on the way to USA
the most interesting thing in UK advertisements as i got used to see...in the other countries almost 50% of advertisements are comming from mobile and other telecomunication companies but not in UK (forgot they are different :) )
so for about 20 hours of my stay in london in and around it i saw only one Vodafone billboard and that was at the entrance of the Heathrow Airport again from my point of view it was wrong as i/and others seing it was/were already leaving UK and it was being used for promoting
Roam with Vodafone - with a "kind of" Bob Marley Picture :(
during the drive and walk on the city i saw only one and single O2 shop (was closed it was after 22:00 ) and another vodafone shop at the airport when i was just flying away but for curiosity i checked for a Usb gprs/edge modem they had it but you should be quite crazy before buying it
you have to make a 99 pound (thats 140 euro approx) in order to have it, then you have to sign a 12 month contract as minimum and make monthly payments of 15 pound (22euro approx) and yes the most important you cant use it with other providers so i had to great them and walk away.
so the country where 2 of the largest world telecoms were born/created do not spend on marketing...(bt and vodafone)
the other interesting thing ... i didnt find a free hot spot internet ... nothing is free in london

e-goverment conference
yesterday and today 12-13/05/08 the ministry of public services organised the conference regarding e-goverment ,
i was able to attend only the second day because of my obligations on monday :) and yes it was good, many good presentations were given and many good examples were shown out there,
in a way now our goverment knows that they should concentrate to create the base in order to move forward and the most important what should be done and what not when everything starts to move.
an interesting fact was that Austria has developed over 10,000 applications that are being used for e-governance.
another one is that Slovenia is among the second countries on the matter of e-governance development.
and the last 2 recomandations
- 1 e-archive - everything should be done in-house or in-country and goverment should be very carefull with hardware....and again hardware.
- 2 application development, infrastructure development, application maintenance and infrastructure maintenance should be outsourced only and only to local companies!
so yeap it was a good one and hope things start to move on this section.
